Tanka poetry

I’m not normally given to blowing smoke up my own arse. But today I will grant myself this one indulgence. I recently had a tanka poem published in the Tokyo Tanka Journal. Tanka is a form of Japanese poetry. A tanka poem has no title. It consists of 5 lines and a limited number of syllables. Here are my five lines:

the words that swim
crowding the fishbowl
of your mind
what’s inscribed there,
at the bottom?
